V0.5C: More bugs fixed and a new experimental addon

So I'll start with the coolest news, I'm experimenting with writing images to the other side of the screen as well to make a sort of map.  I just grabbed a random dungeon tileset from online and I think it looks pretty nice.  I'm less interested in quality of life issues at the moment (QQ I can't see the tiny icons, QQ why does the woods look like a dungeon, QQ wtf is this shitty smiley face icon) and more interested if it works, if it noticeably slows down the engine, and if it's accurate.  Use the old 'map' command to get the map to fully redraw itself if it glitches.

The main bug that I haven't been able to reproduce is this occasional game freeze on fainting / starting the game.  So in the future when reporting this bug please note your operating system and the interpreter you're using, just in case we can spot a pattern.

And now for the long list of bug fixes:

  • Thirst degraded every turn when the player ran out of prize money
  • Couldn't uncurse cowbell on dungeon altar
  • If cowbell was already in universe, game would bug if it tried to spawn another
  • If all diapers were already in universe, game would bug if it tried to spawn another
  • Immediate lactation due to max breast size claimed that breasts were full of milk when in fact they could be empty
  • Chastity belt caused an error when peeing instead of being ignored (this definitely needs extensive testing though)
  • A dildo trap making you orgasm upon entry could cause the game to think you were on your knees, making it impossible to jump
  • Pigtail scrunchies appeared in inventory as 'Two Headgears'
  • Nightmare mode button turned 'unlucky' off instead of on
  • Chastity belt had weird glitchy interaction with throne trap instead of being ignored (this also needs extensive testing though)
  • Player might refuse to remove a diaper even when it was torn if it wasn't used enough (not a glitch, more a balance change)
  • The doll that impregnated you respawning caused the birth scene to glitch
  • Displaced panties were still contributing to ass cheek defence score, creating impenetrable orifices (this also needs extensive testing)
  • Corset of confidence humiliating the player (doesn't really make sense, I agree)
  • Cowbell and witch would cause fairies to attack in a stupid loop
  • Reduced the rate at which hair colour and make up decay (another balance change)
  • Examining self before pushing the button was super glitchy
  • Player could still knee and kick when heels were stuck to floor
  • Player didn't stop being pregnant after sex doll birth (I don't think you guys even realised this was unintentional!)
  • Removed the 'press enter to continue' after fainting as it was making lots of people's games glitch if they accidentally pressed something that wasn't enter
  • A few typos (keep the typo reports coming, thanks!)
  • Added Numbered Disambiguation Choices extension (thanks for the recommendation)
  • Changed experimental stuff to default to ON in settings

Confirmed bugs I'm still working on fixing:
  • Vines ignore chastity cage
  • Chastity cage stops you displacing your own underwear
  • You can give birth through things blocking your crotch

Reported bugs I can't reproduce:
  • Not allowed to pee in diaper
  • Nightie teleport crashes game
  • Save files can't be restored (not sure what I can do about this anyway!)

Known bugs this weekend

Hey guys, I'm away for the weekend but this is just a quick blog from my phone to discuss two major bugs people are encountering.

When you run out of earnings, the game stops tracking time which means your thirst decays every single turn! Oops. I'll fix this soon but I'm afraid I'm not at my pc until Monday.

Secondly, people are discussing the game freezing when you faint. I'm pretty sure this is acually the game waiting for you to press enter to continue, although I understand that message isn't appearing for some reason.

If pressing enter doesn't work, I suggest changing the settings so that delays are set to the fastest possible time and then it should only take a minute or so for it to continue automatically.

Diapers are working as intended, I'll discuss that further when I have the time!

Release 6 Version 0.5

A test release is finally here, along with some surprises I hope you'll all enjoy!

Surprise 1:  More coloured text
I recently found a way to get a couple more custom text colours.  I'm still experimenting with what colours the text should actually be, but I'm happy with my decision for now to use the colours to highlight monsters and items.

Surprise 2:  Ass images!
Yes yes you've all been asking for it, and I've been secretly working on this for a while now.  You can now all go and see what you think of my first attempt.  It's been surprisingly difficult to give a sense of ass size with a cropped image, since asses are only really 'large' when compared to the waist and torso of the owner.  But I've tried my best.  Ass images are all of females, and show ass openness and pussy openness.  You can enable ass images for males but this is disabled as default because, well, you don't have a vagina, so the image is lying.  Also you can disable the more gross gaping images that comes with high amounts of ass openness and pussy openness if you want with a separate option.

Surprise 3:  Images on the side!
This is an experimental feature based on the code in Scipio's example of how to create a realistic image.  I haven't done any of that clever overlaying stuff, all I've done is use the stuff on having a graphical window on the side.  I'm calling it an experimental feature because I think lots of people's screens aren't really big enough to support it and have it look nice.  And I'm not sure if everyone's interpreted supports it.  So it's defaulted to 'off' for now.

Anyway, go to the download page to grab the new version.  When you have your bug reports, please check if  they've already been reported then post them here rather than emailing me because I'm expecting there to be lots of common bugs - it's too big a game for me to test on my own in much of a meaningful way any more.

If there are any massive game breaking bugs, I hope they're found quickly because I'm away from my main PC for the weekend and so won't be able to upload a new version until Monday.

Hotfix bug fixes:
  • Couldn't turn gape images off
  • Cow print boots appearing regardless of heels already worn
  • Lactation wasn't actually soaking clothing with milk
  • At max breast size, flesh was replacing milk without forcing it to be lactated
  • Cowbell was attracting monsters, even friendly or sleeping ones, in a silly infinite loop
  • You could faint whilst resting on furniture and get stuck in a weird loop
  • With new milk production stuff, if white is a beneficial drink colour you can do some pretty abusive stuff.  So, now there is a 40% chance that the can produced by the milking bench will be cursed.
  • Mannequin putting scrunchie in hair triggered an error
  • Scrunchies, cow ears in hair prevented hair description when examining self
  • Ass image option displayed "OFF" instead of "ON"

To the people who have emailed me in the last few weeks, I really do apologise and will be going back through my backlog of emails in the coming week, and will attempt to reply to you all.

To finish off, here's a list of things I'm looking for feedback on:
  • Orifice soreness, hair colour, make up decay timings
  • New attacking system balancing issues
  • Humiliation - does it tend to max out even if you're always picking the less humiliating option?
  • Monsters are a bit better at chasing now, is it too difficult to escape?
  • Are there any verbs you tried to use but the actual verb the game understands is something else?

And finally, a quick list of stuff you shouldn't bother trying right now because it's not implemented:
  • Getting pregnant from the vines or tentacle monster
  • The hotel level
  • Preserving virginity
  • New stuff for Barbara
  • Meaningful interaction from characters you've had children with (just slight flavour changes at the moment)

Deepthroat Skill

So now that masturbation is a skill everyone starts with, the wench needs a new skill she can teach the player. So who would be more appropriate to give a lesson on deepthroating!

Whenever you get facefucked, you may now gag, which causes large amounts of humiliation, especially if it causes you to chuck up semen. Learning the deepthroating skill prevents gagging.

There may soon be some other benefits as well, maybe for example it will help with opportunities to earn a discount on items for sale...

Pregnancy and some other polishing

I think most people who enable the option are in agreement that pregnancy could use a bit more depth than just being on a ticking clock until you faint.

So I've finally managed to devise a system I'm happy with, which allows for the game to continue without it getting super weird (well, depending on what you find weird!)

So, when it's time to give birth, the game will look for potential fathers - that is anyone who donated their DNA to your noble cause before you became pregnant.

The game will try and find an alive father - if there is one. If it finds one, and you're not in the correct region, you'll keel over with contractions. This will happen with relative regularity to encourage you to return and find the father. If you are in the right region, you will give birth and the father will appear as if by magic to deliver the baby. The baby then disappears as far as you're concerned, but the father will act very differently towards you now, you're the mother of his child!

If there are no alive humanoid fathers, it checks for other potential fathers. This includes sex dolls, tentacle monsters, insemination traps (which don't exist yet :-P), etc.  Depending on your fetish choices, these may cause you to spawn a new monster of that type into the world, lay eggs, or just faint.

In other news, I've got some cool varying text now for common words. The text varies between several synonyms and is significantly influenced by bimbo level. So what the game may sometimes describe as "seminal fluid" at the start of the game, may be called "yummy man juice" towards the end.

And in other other news, the source text just hit 200 000 words! Woo!

Progress

So I've done the stuff on attacking that I wanted to.  Not sure it's balanced, but it's there and it certainly makes underwear more valuable.

You now choose between slap, knee and kick.  Slap does less damage and can be further hampered by wrist bondage or large breasts.  Knee does moderate damage but comes with a risk of falling over when wearing high heels: kneeing is slightly more difficult than walking.  Kick does high damage but comes with an even greater risk of falling over, and also increases fatigue, so don't use it too much if already at risk of your knees buckling.

This change should not only allow for a bit of interesting decision making when fighting, but make underwear invaluable against monsters that want to fuck you, since you will have at least one turn, and probably more, to stand back up when you fall over but haven't actually lost the fight yet.

I just want to polish up a few other things and then I'll upload something for y'all that are interested.

So, I should probably release something soon

Hey guys,

Thanks for voting on the poll.  The very mixed results and the poor wording of the poll (that one's my fault) mean that I'll just choose a direction when I come to look at images again.  Eventually the game will probably have options for all of the above and you can each choose your favourite, although I'm a little worried about a  bloated filesize.  I have a few offers from people to draw art for me which I may end up taking up in the future.  By the way, sorry for the lack of email replies guys, I am really good at thinking "I'll reply to this later" and then the email getting lost amidst ones I have replied to.  I'll try to have a look back through lost emails sometime this weekend.

Anyway it's been a productive couple of weeks but I'm still way off what I wanted to have done for release 6.  Never mind that the hotel level is empty of monsters at the moment, but there are loads of donators requests still to do.  But obviously you guys want to play what I've done so far and as some have pointed out it's now early February.

So what I'm going to do, is for the next week (or two, we'll see), is perform some finishing touches that will make what I have at the moment a playable release, revamp attacking like I have planned to do for a while, and then I'll release a version for you to play with.  Think of it as release 6v0.5 or something.  As this isn't a full version of release 6, I won't implement undo prevention yet for non-donators.  But several of the other cheats (purloin etc.) will no longer be available for everyone.  They were only available when I compiled the game 'for testing' and from now on I will be compiling it with standard parameters.

To the donators whose stuff I haven't gotten done yet, I do apologise, it will get done, and I'm hoping / assuming you guys would also like to see where the game is at, even though your request hasn't been coded yet.

Cards on the table I have a lot of work to get on with over the next few months (final semester of final year of university!) but I will still have some spare time of course and will endeavour to do everything I've promised to do as fast as I possibly can.  But as you may have noticed I don't tend to rush my coding, as I value quality and want to be able to be proud of the final product.

So yeah, watch this space!
