Alchemy

So I'm adding crafting mechanics to the game in the hope that Microsoft notices me and buys me up for $2.5bn.

You will start to find recipes in some treasure chests. Recipes can be carried around or memorised. The limit of how many you can commit to memory is based on your intelligence. If you leave a recipe unattended, monsters may pick them up as they wander.

Recipes contain the name of the item that can be created and the items required. Usually one of these items will be a liquid. If the item is a bodily fluid then this will likely require the "brewing" of this liquid inside your belly followed by capture in an open topped vessel during expulsion.

To successfully create the item, go to the apothecary with the items required and use the craft verb. A player with low intelligence has a chance of accidentally and unknowingly creating a cursed version of the item.

Many monsters will now sometimes drop items which have no purpose other than crafting and possibly some trading in the future.

I'm going to try and make some small but frequent posts about the items that can be created as I add them to the game. They've already (mostly) been designed but have yet to be coded.

  3. Sounds awesome. Will recipes change every game like potion colours to prevent people from memorising recipes in the real world? Or will you not be allowed to experiment with ingredients unless you have a recipe.

Taking an alchemy example from a very old (but excellent) rogue-like 'Ragnarok', you *can* experiment mixing potions but odds are you'll just blow yourself up (which was a good deterrent in a game where death meant it deleted all of your character's associated save files). I suppose the equivalent in TQ if you don't want an instant game-over is instant faint with a blast of negative stat changes (assuming you want to go for the experiment + random recipe idea).

    1. You'll require the recipe to attempt crafting. That both solves the problem and makes the interface easier to code!

    1. Maybe if we all start chanting it'll channel more power into Aika? :3

  6. Please make a recipe for black panties/white briefs.

So damn rare, I would enjoy a more consistent way to get them.

  7. Dying for this release, can we get some sort of estimate? I'll admit I've not been focusing too much to avoid the anticipation sweats, but from what I have seen no sort of date or time frame has been mentioned.

From what I've heard the new release would be in the first half of October.

  9. Everyone chill on asking for a release! It's like The Winds of Winter. It'll be done when it's done, and it will be incredibly worth it when it finally happens. Let Aika work, and shhhhh.

  10. Its more like we are cheerleaders empowering Aika - not trying to rush or mean HURRY UP!!!

When someone uses his time to provide free entertainment to others the only thing one can say is THANKS, and provide constructive criticism and suggestions if requested. So, I think, nobody is acting like an executive producer, but just like moral supporters or empowering cheerleaders as Azzura said.
